Paul Citroen & Yoke Matze until 3 June 2018
In 1977 photographer Yoke Matze visited Paul Citroen in his studio in Wassenaar.
There he worked on a portrait of the important German photographer Otto Umbehr (1902-1980), better known as 'Umbo’.
Umbehr was a friend of Citroen. They both worked at the Bauhaus in Germany. With him Paul Citroen performed his first photo experiments.
De Fundatie has recently been able to acquire 18 photographic prints of this Dutch photographer who has lived and worked in London for 35 years. The series of photographs that Matze made is a interesting addition to the largest Citroen collection in the Netherlands, which also includes the Umbo painting. In Kasteel het Nijenhuis photo series and portrait are combined.
